We are now Sustainability Conscious Badge Holders!

We are delighted to announce that Alcuin College has officially been awarded the York SU Sustainability Conscious Badge.

This accreditation recognises the hard work of our students and staff in ensuring that Alcuin remains a forward-thinking, environmentally responsible community.

What is the Sustainability Badge?

The York SU Sustainability Badge is a structured framework designed to help student groups and colleges operate more sustainably. To earn this badge, the Alcuin College Student Association (CSAC) and the College Team committed to a series of rigorous environmental pledges, including:

• Sustainable Procurement: Committing to sourcing event materials ethically and reducing reliance on single-use plastics during college events like our weekly college brunches.
• Energy Awareness: Building on our success in the College Sustainability Challenge (where Alcuin recently took 1st place on the leaderboard!), we continue to monitor and reduce energy consumption across our ensuite blocks.
• Community Education: Appointing a dedicated Sustainability Lead within our committee to ensure that green initiatives are at the forefront of every college decision.

The Sustainability Badge must be renewed annually, meaning our work doesn't stop here. If you have an idea for a green project—perhaps a new initiative for the Alcuin allotments or a way to make our departments even greener—we want to hear from you.
