Communal Spaces in Alcuin College!
This post aims to highlight the communal spaces and items you have access to as an Alcuin College student. We have multiple 'event' spaces where we run social activities and events throughout the year, especially during freshers week, as well as quiet cosy spaces. these include:
- The Vedge
- The JCR (Junior Common Room)
- The Cosy Corner
These locations are great for socialising, each have their own unique use and times of use, which follows:
The Vedge:
This space is not a widely accessible space but is bookable for sports and society events, as well as being home to the famous Alcuin College Brunch which runs once a week in term time (day to be confirmed post freshers week). This space is fitted with lighting and event equipment which is run by our tech officers, as well as having a lot of seating options, from cafe tables to sofas and chairs.
The Junior Common Room (JCR):
Located in S block above the launderette is Alcuin's 24/7 student space, whether its watching a movie, hanging with friends or playing a boardgame this is the perfect go-to location in Alcuin. Equipped with a kitchen, projector, comfortable seating, boardgames and puzzles, Alcuin Swap Shop and arts and crafts supplies there is plenty to do to unwind from long days of lectures.
The Cosy Corner:
Located in Alcuin D Block next to The Vedge is Alcuin Cosy Corner and hygiene lockers. This is a quiet space to chill and with a comfy seat and nice posters it is the nicest spot in Alcuin.

These are all the spaces you can use in Alcuin, but remember the entire campus has a lot of nice locations, from bars to cafes and dining halls. Also the library is just a five minute walk away!
