Alcuin College JCR
Atop the highest point on the University’s campus stands Alcuin College. Its students can scoff at the prefab sprawl they see below them and luxuriate in en-suite splendour. With some of the newest accommodation available at the university, a bar that sells the best cocktails on campus and more quad space than any other college, Alcuin provides pretty much the best environment to play out what will be one of the best years of your life. Events this year

For the last year, Alcuin's events have gone
from strength to strength. It started off with "Angels and Demons"
for Freshers Week 2007 and led on to "Motown" and last year's
Entertainment rep's finale: the-soon-to-be tradition "Das Sexy Sexy
German Techno Disco". The new committee debuted with 7 Deadly Sins to
begin the Easter term: a huge spectacle in collaboration with Goodricke
College which sold out in just 2 days!
The subsequent four
events have very much established Alcuin's "Amplify" label firmly on
campus, bringing some of the best DJs, music and parties to the York
University late licences. From the eclectic music night "Dirty
Electro" featuring new South-Western (cider-drinking) electro talent
Black Masa, to the quirky
what-the-hell-are-you-wearing-and-why-are-you-so-sunburnt "Beach Goes
On" party after the summer trip to Scarborough, Alcuin definitely
knows how to party. The pinnacle of Alcuin events this year came with
our 40th Anniversary. It featured a live music event, "Decades" with
the excellent cover band CopOwt, and then the "Black-Tie with a touch
of Red" Summer Ball for 200 people.
Alcuin events in B-Henry's
are now the place to
be, and don't you forget it! See our "Amplify" Facebook and MySpace pages, and our Alcuin Freshers 08 Facebook page for more information. To keep you updated, and for tickets for your Freshers week line-up see the store
See you at our first event of the term - SPACE INVADERS, (with Black Masa) on Thursday Week 1 9pm-2am.

Lots of Love from your Entertainment Officers
