Message From The President
Hello, and welcome to Alcuin!
As your college, Alcuin allows you to get involved with every aspect of student life, and will support you throughout your journey here at the university. Your college is much more than accommodation — we fund and run events and sports, encourage community, amplify student voices, and promote the Alcuin values of inclusivity and accessibility. Alcuin thrives with its lively and diverse community of students. They (and you!) are represented by the CSAC, a group of student volunteers elected to their positions by Alcuin members. The CSAC gift the college their time and energy, with incredible results — some of our successes this year have included a very popular food donation point that benefits the local community, an overwhelmingly positive response to our contributions during the university’s Sexual Health and Guidance week, and some brilliant collaborations with other colleges. You will meet most of your CSAC representatives during Freshers Week, and of course we will be running events and initiatives all year round. The best piece of advice I can give you is to get as involved as you can. Whether you want to join a society, attend events, or even volunteer with the CSAC at the next election, there are a vast array of opportunities for you at the University of York. You can build your CV, increase your confidence, and (most importantly) meet some amazing new friends. Have fun, make memories — and if you see me around, come and say hi! Chloe Turner (President) |
